Opened in the fall of 2009 by Habib and Saad Mandwee, Zooroona quickly became a favorite in Kalamazoo’s culinary scene. In the summer of 2024, the Mandwees passed the business on to Ramy Rezkalla, a former kitchen staff member turned manager, who later opened Cairo’s Kitchen in downtown Kalamazoo.

With a mission to bring bold flavors to Kalamazoo from across the Mediterranean region and a focus on hospitality, Zooroona’s legacy remains strong under Ramy's ownership.
